Dr Alexander Hayes

BA (Education), BA (Art), BFA (Hons), PhD (Computing & Information Technology)


Dr. Alexander Hayes is a Scottish Australian artist and scholar with a PhD. by thesis, focussed on the social and ethical implications of emergent technologies. As an entrepreneur, his enduring conceptual inquiry emanates from collaborative co-design, often encompassing intercultural partnerships, human rights and social justice themes.

Hayes is an acclaimed and award winning creative, as executive producer of short film and feature documentaries, photographer, printmaker, painter, sculptor, and audio-phonic installation artist. Alexander is also a non-fiction biographical ethnographer, currently leveraging artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies to write decentralised social-fiction Web3Lit narratives.

With a reputation for emancipatory, cross-cultural, and quality-driven social action initiatives over three decades, Hayes has instigated, managed and led project teams through rigorous cultural action and academic research inquiry. Hayes engages across many international networks, national communities of practice, and cross-discipline authorship initiatives to produce special issue articles, opinion positions statements, book chapters, conference papers and presentations published in peer-review and open access data journals.

As a principal partner with Oethica Group Productions and co-producer of Ngikalikarra Media, Hayes ethically co-designs online solutions, manages projects and administers information systems with First Nations leaders, charitable foundations, NGOs and their corporate partners.

Dr Magali McDuffie

PGDip. (Translation), MA (Languages & Linguistics), MA (Film & Television), Grad.Cert. (Cultural Heritage), PhD (Indigenous Studies).


Dr Magali McDuffie is an internationally awarded filmmaker, accomplished researcher, and consummate educator with over 17 years' experience working in culturally diverse regional and remote projects both as a filmmaker and academic researcher. She has worked for 17 years with Aboriginal communities throughout Australia, on internationally recognised documentaries as well as numerous film projects with Aboriginal media organisations. Privileging a listening approach, her films are the result of close collaborations with communities and individuals whose voices are not being heard in the mainstream media. Using the camera as an emancipatory tool, Magali is passionate about exposing injustice, and creating a dialogue around human rights, agency, and social justice.

Our core service can be described as ‘Media Production and Broadcasting’, with additional services including research, teaching, web design, website development, digital productions, print publications, projects and data management. STATUS

Our formal business partnership was registered with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) on the 12th January 2017 as ‘Ngikalikarra Media’, evolving into a ‘Family Partnership’ on the 14th of August 2020 (ABN 20 369 203 466).
